Sylvia LaVonne (Essig) Short, a long time resident of the KCMO area passed Sunday, October 4, 2015 at her home, after a prolonged illness. Born August 1, 1934 in KCMO. Sylvia attended Liberty High School. She married Don Short Sept 22, 1951. Sylvia enjoyed an active life. She loved spending time with family. She was a long time member of the Shooting Stars Sq Dance club. They spent last few years of their retirement in Alamo Texas. Sylvia is survived by her husband of 64 years, Don Short, her son Doug Short (Carolyn), her daughter Mendy Blowers (Alan) 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren 2 sisters Jeannie Meadows and Barbara Ragle. Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Marguerite Essig, brothers Joe Compton and Jim Essig. An informal memorial will be at Corner Cafe in Liberty, Mo, Nov 7th 2:00-4:00.
