Vernon Barth Boyd, 77, of Batesville died
Tuesday Jan. 25, 2011 in a Batesville hospital. Born Oct. 23, 1933, in
North Kansas City, Mo., he was the son of Frank and NeIle Boyd. He graduated
from the Kansas City Art Institute and served two years in the U.S. Navy. While
in Batesville, as Mr. Hot Dog he sold Chicago-sty1e hot dogs from a cart at Town
Plaza Shopping Center. He was of the Catholic faith and was a frequent visitor
at Believers’ Community Church.
Survivors include a son, Scott Stephen Boyd; three daughters, KelIey Leigh Boyd,
Katherine Irene Wilson and Sherri Lee Herman; nine grandchildren, Alex Michael
Mercer, David Scott Boyd, Matthew James Boyd, David Erickson, Amanda Renee
Wilson, Joseph Michael Ley, Brandon Tyler Wilson, Kristopher Jordan Ley and
Jeffery Ray Boyd; and a great-grandchild, Gemma Elizabeth Boyd.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carolyn Jean Boyd, and a
daughter, Betty Jean Mercer.
