David N. Miller, born April 17, 1937 in Liberty, Missouri and passed away May 25, 2005 in Thousand Oaks, CA. Spending his formative years in Liberty and Eldon, Missouri, “Big Dave” commenced an aviation career as an Officer and aviator in the United States Navy. He retired from United Airlines after flying there for over 32 years. A long time resident of Thousand Oaks with a second home on the Lake of the Ozarks, he had many dear friends in both regions and across the country. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and is survived by his wife Michelle; daughter Rebecca; sons, Jack, Daniel and Jason; daughters –in-law Kristie, Deborah and Zina; grandsons, Spencer, Mickey, David and Cameron; and granddaughters, Kristen and Makayla. Funeral services will be held June 2, at 9:30 am at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks, Westlake Village, CA. Memorial contributions can be directed to the American Heart Association.

When Dave Miller from Eldon moved to Liberty and became part of the Liberty High School class that would graduate in 1955, that class already had a Dave Miller, whose father was the custodian and whose mother was the cook in the cafeteria. They lived in a house on the high school grounds. In no time at all, the new Dave ingratiated himself with the locals. But the problem remained, what do you do with two Dave Millers? They became Big Dave and Little Dave, and so remained all their lives with LHS grads of that era. We lost Little Dave several years ago. We did not know that the sobriquet "Big Dave" stuck outside the circle of LHS grads until the bad news came. On behalf of all those who had a part in making Dave Miller from Eldon Big Dave from Liberty, let me extend our heartfelt sympathies. The will be an All Fifties reunion of LHS grads this coming weekend. Big Dave stories will abound.
