Helen was born on June 20, 1939, in North Kansas City, MO
to Thelma Pearl (Barber) and Everett Samuel Hayes. She graduated from Liberty
High School in 1957. She worked for many years in the banking industry as a bank
teller and customer service representative at Commercial Bank then finishing her
career at Pony Express Bank in Liberty when she retired in 2003.
Helen enjoyed reading, knitting, sewing and other craft
activities, but most of all, she loved her family. Helen had two daughters,
Laura, and Jill, whom she dearly loved. She enjoyed watching her children and
grandchildren in their extracurricular activities. She loved family gatherings
and going on camping excursions. She also cherished her lifelong friends, some
whom she has known since kindergarten. She lived her life with God as her
blessing. Above all else she hoped to be remembered for her faithfulness to God,
her friends, and her family.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Thelma, and
Everett; her brothers Donald, Richard, and Kenny Hayes; and her sister-in-law
Jeanne (White) Hayes.
Helen is survived by her daughters, Laura Yanez (Brian),
Overland Park, KS, and Jill Murphy (Gale), Frankfort, IL; her grandchildren
Logan Murphy (Tori), Lindsey Murphy, Ruben Yanez and Richelle Yanez; many nieces
and nephews; and many friends and family.
Helen and her family have asked that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations should be made in Helen’s name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to the Ronald McDonald House.
