Joann Boothe Ortiz, 81, of Liberty MO, passed away Sunday,
April 7, 2013. Born February 19, 1932, to Johnnie E. and Jeannette (Woods)
Boothe in Rayville, MO, she was a lifetime resident of Liberty, MO She was
united in marriage to G.J. Ortiz, DDS, on April 11, 1960. Besides her parents,
she was preceded in death by her husband in 1996, and one son, Jesse P. Ortiz,
in 2010. Joann attended Liberty Public Schools from kindergarten through the
12th grade and graduated Liberty High School in 1950. She graduated from St.
Luke's School of Nursing in St. Louis in 1954. She worked labor and delivery
rooms in St. Louis, Kansas City and Colorado Springs. She was a lifetime member
of the Girl Scouts and received the Thanks Badge in 1978. Joann enjoyed
traveling, water aerobics and reading. She was a Liberty Hospital volunteer
doing sewing projects and office work for the hospital. She was a member of 3
chapters of the Red Hat Society. Survivors include 4 daughters, Elizabeth
Sportsman (Bill), Kathryn Bell both of Kansas City, Laura Miller of Warrensburg
and Christina Ordonio (David) of Liberty, and one son, Johnnie Ortiz (Sherrie)
and seven grandchildren, Sarah Sportsman, J.R. Miller, Holly Miller, Juliana
Ortiz, Victor Ortiz, Faith Ordonio and Grace Ordonio. A visitation is planned
from 5:00-7:00p.m., Friday, April 12, 2013, at the funeral chapel. Memorial
Services will be at 7:00p.m., Friday, April 12, 2013 at the Church-Archer-
Pasley Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Ararat
Needle Guild, c/o the Ararat Temple, 5100 Ararat Drive, Kansas City, MO 64129.
