On September
6, 2013, we had to let go of our beloved husband and father, Larry Dean
McGinnis. He was 75 years old.
Larry was born April 30, 1938 in Liberty, Missouri to Homer and Lela
McGinnis. He was raised in Liberty and graduated from Liberty High School in
1956. Following high school, Larry furthered his education at William Jewell
College and the University of Missouri; he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in 1962.
On August 22, 1964, Larry married Kathleen Goodwin in St. Louis, Missouri. They
spent their first years in Kansas City, Missouri, where their three daughters
were born. They lived in Pleasanton, California for several years and then
moved to Chillicothe, Ohio where they spent 11 years and welcomed their youngest
child. In 1984, they settled in Bellevue, Washington.
Larry spent nearly all of his career with PACCAR Inc., holding numerous
accounting and controller roles before retiring after 31 years with the
company. In his leisure time, Larry enjoyed music, cars, woodworking, and
spending time with his children and grandchildren. In retirement, Larry and
Kathy enjoyed their world travels with family and friends. His family remembers
him as a devoted husband, father and grandfather who possessed a deep and
abiding faith and beautiful spirit. Larry was patient beyond measure, kind and
unassuming, and always put others first.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen (Goodwin) McGinnis; devoted children
Anne Mueller (Craig), Maribeth Wassel (Dan), Jeannie McGinnis (Henry), and
Matthew McGinnis (Alicia); siblings Carolyn Katz, Bill McGinnis and Randy
McGinnis; grandchildren Max, Griffin, Audrey, Jack, Isaac and Willa, and a host
of extended family members and friends.
We are incapable of understanding God's plans, but we are assured that Larry is
free of pain and experiencing the full love of God in heaven.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests remembrances to the
