
	
		Linda Loy (Hufft) Newton passed away Friday, June 27, 2014, at 
		Liberty Hospital. Linda and her twin brother, Bob, were born Aug. 5, 
		1940, at Junction City, KS, Hospital to Robert Evans and Gail (Carter) 
		Hufft. She grew up in Liberty, MO, where she graduated from high school 
		in 1958 and received a B.A. in Speech and Physical Education from 
		William Jewell College in 1962. In 1963 she received a Masters in Speech 
		Pathology from the University of Missouri, Columbia. Linda later 
		obtained a Masters in Psychology from UMKC. Linda was a speech therapist 
		in the Independence Schools; was a professor at William Jewell College 
		from 1964-1989. Subsequent to her tenure at William Jewell, she spent 
		years as a traveling motivational speaker; worked at Maple Valley State 
		School; finished her career as a speech therapist for the Kansas City, 
		Missouri School District. Linda adored and loved her family and friends 
		and they in turn loved and were attracted to her charismatic and unique 
		personality. Her happiness was greatest when entertaining in her home 
		while fixing the special foods her guests enjoyed. She loved travel and 
		adventure and readily passed on her experiences and recommendations. She 
		loved being a grandma and was an ardent Royals, Chiefs, KU, MU and 
		K-State fan. Linda is survived by sons, Lance Madison Newton, Lee's 
		Summit, and Clinton Graham Newton (Susan), Liberty and their children 
		Macgyver and Madalyn, brother, Robert Hufft, M.D. (Diane) Springfield, 
		MO, and sister, Amy Kanning (Larry, D.D.S.) Lawson, MO, and many caring 
		nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. 
		followed by a celebration of Linda's life at 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 
		at the First Presbyterian Church, 138 North Main Street, Liberty. A 
		private family burial will be in Glenridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, 
		memorials are suggested in Linda's name to the Deanna Rose Children's 
		Farmstead, 13800 Switzerland Road, Overland Park, KS 66221. Linda's 
		students and friends are welcome to share a message with the family or
