Richard Kent "Dick" Rees, 84, was born May 12, 1931 in Liberty, MO. to
Clyde and Mary Rees. He left this earth on March 27, 2016. He was surrounded by
his family. ick served his country as an MP in the Korean War and vowed to
never eat kim chi again. An Eagle Scout, Dick loved the great outdoors and
adventure. Those adventures included ski patrol at Sun Valley Idaho, building
then navigating a boat down the Missouri River to the Mississippi Delta with his
father and piloting his Swift, Piper and Cessna planes. On February 20, 1960
Dick married the love of his life, Alice Jennings Ehlers and another adventure
began as the step father to her 5 children. He created memorable excursions for
his family; floating the Buffalo and Current Rivers, hiking the Laramie
Mountains of Wyoming and annual ski trips. Dick was an avid hunter and fisherman
— and taught Alice how to hunt as well. Dick was a builder by trade. The Village
of Glenaire, MO, is filled with homes Dick designed and constructed. His
woodworking skills are treasured by his family in the form of cabinetry, jewelry
boxes, and furniture. Along with building houses, Dick was a builder of
friendships. He loved a party with family, friends, and Alice's fabulous food.
Dick is survived by his wife Alice, his 5 children; Nancy White, Carolyn
Thompson (Terry), John Ehlers, Jim Ehlers (Anne), Tom Ehlers (Abbe), his 7
grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, an extended family and a host of friends.
He was a good man, was well loved and will always be missed. A service and
celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
