Sylvia Ruth Bagby Hughey Alamosa – Valley resident Sylvia Ruth (Bagby) Hughey, 79, passed away on February 12, 2014 at the San Luis Care Center in Alamosa. She was born on October 25, 1935 to Clyde T. Bagby and Gertrude Plank Bagby in Lee’s Sumit Missouri. She grew up in Liberty, MO and in her lifetime has always been drawn to live in the San Luis Valley or her childhood home around Kansas City, MO. During her time in the valley, Sylvia worked for Social Services in Alamosa. She enjoyed socializing, loved riding horses and had a deep love for the Black Hills of South Dakota and its rich Native American culture. Sylvia is survived by her children; Tina (Terry) LePlatt of Monte Vista and Christina Clampitt (Michael Landis) of Richmond, MO. Her grandchildren, Quinten LePlatt and Cody Alinutt, her great grandchildren, Tiffany and Tyler LePlatt as well as her sister Shirley Bagby of Kansas City, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents and her nephews, Stephen and Denny Hoffman. Cremation was selected and private family services will be held at a later time in her beloved Black Hills of South Dakota.
