Thomas A. Behrendsen, 70 of Liberty, MO passed away Oct. 13, 2010 after a fierce battle with cancer. Tom was born in Plainfield, IL and made many moves before settling in Liberty, MO. His life's work was Fire and Arson Investigations, starting with the Liberty Fire Dept., then Missouri State Fire Marshal, Director of Fire Investigations for Clarence Kelly Agency. After Retirement he worked at the Auto Auction. But his life goal was to help and nurture organ transplant recipients and donors through his work with the National Kidney Foundation , the Dream Factory, the Hot Dog Ministry at the First Christian Church, and Camp Chimer, which was his Passion. Tom belonged to many car and truck organizational groups and loved long drives in his 1977 yellow Ford Bronco. Visitation will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010 and the Memorial Service at 7 p.m. at the First Christian Church of North Kansas City, 2018 Gentry. Tom leaves behind two sisters - Susan Mick of Kearney, MO and Gail Philman of Denver, CO and 9 nieces and nephews. Donations in Tom's memory, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the National Kidney Foundation . Tom will be loved and missed always.
