Mar.,1956: John Nowell, George Thomas and I took off from school one Monday morning and joined the U.S. Army Reserves in Kansas City. George and I needed our parents' permission because we weren't 18. Don Bogart had joined a few months earlier and Ron McCoy joined shortly afterward.

 

May, 1956: High School Graduation  June 3,1956: All five of us, Don, Ron, John, George and I were headed to Ft. Leonard Wood, MO to start basic training and our 6 months active duty.
Aug.1956: After a brief time off, we continued our training at Ft. Chaffee, AR. Our training ended the last of November. I went on to serve 3 ~ years active Reserves and 4 years inactive Reserves and received an honorable discharge in Feb. 1964.
Feb., 1957 Aug., 1957: Attended Texas Christian University, Ft. Worth, TX
Sept., 1957 Dec., 1959: Attended Transylvania College (now University), Lexington, KY.
Sept., 1960 May, 1961: Attended Texas Christian University graduating with a B.S. in Commerce degree.

Approximately the first ten years of employment were spent in the credit field as a collector and a manager in Dallas, Ft. Worth, Kansas City and San Antonio. After work­ing for 14 months as a night manager for one of the best and largest restaurants in Den­ver, we moved back to Arlington, TX Then I worked for two different Tandy Companies over the next three years, Allied Electronics as a credit manager and, later, as an inventory control manager and Radio Shack as a store manager. My time with Radio Shack began my retail career of 30 years spread over 4 companies. I retired from Foley's (now Macy's) after 8 years on 12/30/05.

Linda King and I have been married almost 42 years. I met Linda the first day she came to TCU in the fall of 1960 but we didn't date until the spring of 1963. She received a B.S. in Nursing from TCU and, later, a M.S. in Mathematics from the Univer­sity of Texas at Arlington where she has been a math instructor since the fall of 1988.

Brian Keith (born 1/16/65) married Ellen Thomas in 1991. Brian received a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Rice University, Houston, TX, a M.S. in Civil Engineering and an Engineer's degree (just short of a PhD.) from Stanford University, Palo Alto, CA. Ellen earned her bachelor's degree from Bucknell (PA) and her M.S. and PhD. in Civil Engineering from Stanford University. They are both working for a local (Ft. Worth) engineering company and they live in Arlington. They have three children, Colin Thomas (9), Connor Lawson (7) and Courtney Catherine (5)
Kevin Michael (born 1/6/67) is single. He received a B.B.A. from Stephen F. Austin University, Nacogdoches, TX and a M.B.A. from West Texas A&M University, Canyon, TX He works for Countrywide Mortgage, Richardson, TX, as an underwriter.  He lives in Lewisville, TX.
Amy Lynn (born 12/3/68) married Kyle Walker Deatherage in 1992. She and Kyle graduated with B.A. degrees from Austin College, Sherman, TX. Amy majored in math and minored in computer science while Kyle majored in political science. Kyle played football for Austin College and he got to play against William Jewell in Liberty. After several years of working as a Pensions Administration Consultant for a major benefits firm in Dallas, Amy recently left there and went to work for Kyle. Kyle is a Certified Financial Planner. They live in Dallas and have two children, Trevor King (7) and Tatum Ruthe (4).

Both of my parents passed away quite a while ago, my dad in December,1978 and my mother in October, 1982.
My brother, Ed, who is nine years older and never lived in Liberty, lives in Denver as does my younger sister, Pat, whom some of you may remember. My older sister, Loretta (Class of 1950) lives in Holland, MI.
